Paid $100 for this thing. I used the original filter for 2 years straight which was a mistake. When I replaced it with this one the air flow significantly increased.
Change this about once a year and you should be good. don't forget to clean the prefilter every couple of months to extend the longivity of the main filter.

Why not just get the 115115?,

The Hepa is NOT washable. You take the 2 washable ones out of the "cassette" and vacuum and wash those. For the price, I rather just pop in the new carbon ones that are supplied with the 115115 filter pack. The silk/mesh one you see in the 119110 picture is just a glorified cheap prefilter and doesn't do much. YOu'd be better off getting a foam washable air conditioner's filter and put that in front of the 115115. They're only $4 for 2 of them. Copy and paste this link:

I actually own a Electrolux EL490A Oxygen 3 Plasmawave Air Purifier. I needed to replace the filter for the product and was unsatisfied with the options offered by Electrolux for filter replacements. With much study, I found two things. The Electroluc EL490A is no longer made, it was replaced by the Electrolux Oxygen EL500AZ Ultra. Upon doing some studies on new air purifiers, I came across the Winix WAC5500 True HEPA Air Cleaner with PlasmaWave and noticed a startling resemblance between the EL490a and the WAC5500, especially when the covers for the products were removed. Winix offered a better filter replacement option which included washable per-filter and washable carbon filter. This piqued my interest as these options can significantly improve product longevity. In standard design for the filter set, carbon filters were used as a per-filter and needed to be replaced every 3-5 months (depending on conditions).
With much research, and no help from either company in...Read more
