An Ancient Technique for Modern Health
Sinus washing is an ancient Ayurvedic technique, called jala neti, with origins based in the yoga tradition. In Eastern cultures, jala neti is performed as routinely as we brush our teeth or wash our hands. Although Western doctors commonly prescribe antihistamines, decongestants, steroids, and antibiotics, they also recommend sinus washing for allergy sufferers and patients with chronic sinusitis. Allergists and ear, nose, and throat specialists (ENTs) also encourage sinus washing as a preventive approach to allergies and key to sinus health.

As other reviewers have stated, water does get into the battery compartment. This happened after only two uses. But, because I had convinced my wife to use it to relieve her severe stuffy nose (she refuses to use nose spray) I felt compelled to find a solution to the battery compartment leakage. Vaseline petroleum jelly to the rescue!
Open the battery compartment. If you have used it, and water seeped in, wipe the battery compartment and batteries dry and allow it to air dry for a couple of hours. Simply smear a small amount of petroleum jelly along the edge of the raised area of the compartment that has the small rubber gasket, and along both surfaces where the battery cover comes into contact with the main housing of the pump. Re-insert the batteries and replace the battery compartment cover by tightening the screw. This small amount of pet jelly will form a perfect...Read more 62 of 75 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Waterpik SWI 615 Sinusense Water Pulsator Includes 15 Soothing Saline Packs With Aloe Vera and Eucalyptus, Blue/white (Health and Beauty) I just recently had septoplasty/turbinate reduction surgery and bought this post-op to help rinse my nose and sinuses. I have owned this less than 24 hours and used it 4 times. Twice each side, once in the morning and once in the evening. By the 3rd time I noticed that I was getting this brownish colored water near the bottom where the water container connects to the unit. I cleaned and just thought that maybe some bloody discharge from my surgery came out. The next nostril I used it and then took off the water container and investigated a little bit further and noticed the brownish water was coming from the metal piece with the screw that holds in the batteries. Turns out water is someone getting into the batteries and causing battery acid or corrision to leak into the water I just ran through my sinuses. This is absolutely crazy. I just had surgery and now have battery acid in my sinsus cavities. I would not recommend this product to anyone and would not be suprised if it...Read more 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Waterpik SWI 615 Sinusense Water Pulsator Includes 15 Soothing Saline Packs With Aloe Vera and Eucalyptus, Blue/white (Health and Beauty) Bought the product at Walgreens; read the reviews online but figured I would give it a try. Figured may be user error rather than product flaw. Used petroleum jelly as others had suggested to help the seals, dried it after each use. Was great for about a month, but went to use it this morning and saw the tell-tale sign. Absolutely disgusting. Do not buy!
--- Wow! I e-mailed Waterpik about my problems with my Sinusense. They responded very promptly, asked for a serial number, and promptly mailed me a NEW one that is redesigned. It solves the problem with a new design of the water reservoir/battery compartment. Works MUCH better than it used to. Very impressed with Waterpik's customer service. If you have an old version with a reservoir and no lock/unlock slide -- e-mail Waterpik! |
