I bought this unit in October. Junk. Utter junk.

1. By the end of November, the UV lamp was utterly fried.

2. By mid-December the bearings on the motor started to wobble. Horrible noise.

3. For fun mostly, as I now consider the unit junk. I tried to wash the "washable" filter. Yea. The filter material itself? Probably ok. But, what about the glue that keeps the whole filter together? Or the fact the supporting frame is just plain cardboard? Yes, you guessed it. Within seconds of water hitting the filter, it completely fell apart.

4. When I opened it to see what was going on, the area behind the filter, fan blades, etc. were coated with fine dust. HEPA? No, I don't think so. Not even close. This was with the NEW, unwashed, filter.

Ok - they have a 3 year warranty. Just pack it up and pay UPS $25 to send it back, rinse and repeat in 6 months, I expect. Unless, like many, they no longer honer their warranty on...Read more

Someone wrote they washed the pre-filter and it fell apart. They didn't read the instruction. The pre-filter is a thin filter on the hepa filter. They washed the whole thing so naturally it would fall apart. On high speed, I find the noise level moderate and you can watch tv with no problem. It works as stated and does a great job.
