Quiet. Since we use our air purifiers in our homes it is critical that they be effective but not screaming with noise. The v-hepa air purifier is 28 dB to 48 dB depending on fan speed due to our innovative fan design. Comparable air purifiers are 60dB to 70 dB on the high fan speed setting. Normal conversation is in the 50dB to 60 dB range.

Comment: Arrived quickly. Bought it for my mother that has alot of respiratory problems. It seems a bit loud on high, but on medium, it is just fine and does a great job of cleaning the air. I would recommend this to all that need real clean air.

Comment: UPDATE: I wanted to update from my review below -- I've changed my 4 stars to 1. It's now about 2 months since I bought the air purifier, and it's currently in pieces in my living room as my husband looks to replace a part. The filter stopped working this weekend after having been "finicky" for a couple of weeks. I went ahead and opened the case up (diabolically tricky to do) and saw what was obviously wrong--all of the wires connected to the "on/off, I, II, III" dial weren't attached to anything. Apparently, instead of soldering the wires, they have this really cheap plastic gizmo that is supposed to hold them in place and have them make contact only as you spin the dial. I'm surprised that it failed so quickly, because I almost always left the dial on "II," except when I would turn it off to clean it. Thankfully my husband is an engineer and he's going to see if he can replace the part or figure out a different way to route the current. So, yes, this unit performs nicely at first, but expect it to go on the fritz after a couple of months when the wires get disconnected from the dial.
This is a nice, quiet little air purifier. The major dust particle screen is a great feature and easy to clean, and I would definitely recommend it and buy it again. However, I would note two things: one, the instructions repeatedly say to just plug it in and use it. Nowhere does it tell you that the filter is wrapped in plastic that you have to remove before it will function correctly. Also, the instructions on both Oransi air purifiers I bought say that if you have pets, you should clean the filter every couple of months. Well, I'm finding plenty of dust and fur to clean off every DAY -- I can't imagine what they'd look like in a few months. I mean, I'm actually happy that I can see they're pulling that much crap out of the air, but if I'd waited to look at the filters a couple of months, like they said, I can't imagine what a mess they would be!

Comment: I read the reviews which said this model was really quiet but I was skeptical that it could really be _that_ quiet. So I bought one and it really is that quiet. 3 speeds. The high speed is what you would expect, it sounds like a fan. However after some experimentation the middle speed is quiet enough to sleep to and that is where I set it for bedtime. It is nice to wake up still able to breath through my nose, so very nice.
The low speed however is so quiet you would have a hard time knowing it was even turned on. For example this morning I woke up and thought I could hear that the filter was on and set on the low speed but it turns out that it had actually been turned off!
It works great, the air feels great and I noticed a huge difference immediately.
Also the unit is not huge, it doesn't look like something you'd put in a hospital room and it fits snugly against the wall.

Comment: I had really bad allergy from all the dust floating in the air in the newly built house. This product really helps. I love the modern design and easy utility. Changing the filter doesn't require a manual. A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
