Amazon.com Product Review
The upright Hunter HEPAtech 55 Air Purifier (30055) uses the same long-lasting micro-filter material used in hospital respirators, incubators and anesthetic equipment. This three-speed model has a portable design that is easy to move from room to room. It features an advanced activated carbon prefilter reduces cooking, tobacco and pet odors while also capturing larger dust particles, lint and pet hair from dirty air. It works well on the floor or on a shelf and it can be wall mounted. It maintains full effectiveness even when placed in a corner or against a wall.
It has a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) that will exchange air up to six times per hour in a 12 by 12-foot room with an 8-foot ceiling. Other features include an air flow rating of 200 CFM (cubic feet of air per minute), easy-to-use controls, and power indicator light.
The HEPAtech system has a whisper-quiet fan that draws air into the unit without noise, and then sends it to a separate washable pre-filter captures large dust particles, lint and pet hair. The permanently charged HEPAtech Electret filter then effectively captures 99.97 percent of particles as small as 0.1 microns in size.
CADR measures the amount of clean air that a purifier delivers into a room. It gauges real world performance, taking into account filter efficiency, airflow and room size. CADR is the single most important piece of information you need to make a head-to-head comparison of air cleaner performance.

I bought this for my newborns bedroom. When we moved into the house the bedroom reeked of perfume, despite the fact that the room was freshly painted and carpeted. After about 3 weeks of running the purifier in the room (full speed during the day, low at night) the smell has vanished. Still running the original filters (3 months) , about time to change them soon. This thing pushes a lot of air considering its small size, filters pop right in and it's nice and quiet on low. The Carbon pre-filter is great for filtering out smells as well.

This air purifier has been working great for me. I have another one I've had for 3 years now. Like all purifiers the filters are exspensive. It is cheapest to buy 3 filters at a time. The first two settings are very quit, but the high setting does sound like a box fan on medium speed if you are concerned about noice. I actually like it on high in the bedroom at night, I can't sleep without it running now.
