I have had the model #30547 Hunter air filter for probably 5 years now. I have 3 dogs, 1 cat----not really by choice, but that's another story. One of my dogs and myself have big time allergies. This filter helps a great deal. The dust and hair that it sucks in is unbelievable. My air cleaner does't rattle at all, and the filter fits in quite nicely. I WOULD have liked to know that you are not supposed to rinse out the prefilter, I guess that I didn't read that part of the instructions. The reason that I am sending this review, is because when I shop, I put a great deal of weight on these opinions, so, if I had read the only other review for this aircleaner, I would not have even tried it. I rated a 4 instead of 5, because I rarely rate 5s, plus, the filters, like all of the others, are quite expensive.

I bought this item from a major home improvement store online. Same unit/model number but price was over $50.00 less. Received it yesterday and it will be returned as soon as I can, this week. Item has a terrible humming/vibrating noise when the fan is turned on. It turns out that it is the main "Hepa Type" filter vibrating inside the unit. Either the air filter in the unit was made to small or the air filter compartment was made to big. The air filter is approximately 1/4 inch smaller in width and there is also a difference in the height. Because the air filter is too small, it does not seat securely and vibrates when the motor is turned on. Which allows air to bypass the filter instead of going through it. This unit has a great fan motor on it and could have been a very good unit. But, there was apparently no quality control that went into the manufacturing/design of it.
