I bought a pair of these Honeywell tower fans last year and have used them non-stop since. They work well, are quiet, move a good quantity of air for their size, and actually provide a bit of filtration as a bonus. (There is a removable filter that won't remove small particles but does catch things like cat hair). My only complaint is that the base that they sit on isn't very solid or weighty and this means the fans tend to wobble a bit. It's not really noticeable unless you bump into the fan, so it's really a minor complaint. The fan has various settings which I've only used a few of (time delay shut down, oscillation, air speed) all of which can be controlled using the remote. I've not really used the remote much, so I can't really review how well it works. Overall this is a nice, quiet tower fan. It does what it's supposed to do well, and that's all you can ask. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Honeywell HY-047B Fresh Breeze Tower Fan w/ Ionizer (Electronics) I was holding off on buying ceiling fans because of the money and now I don't think I will even bother. After buying one of these and trying it out, I bought two more right away. They are that good. They push enough air to easily cool a 30X40 room. They are comparable in terms of air movement to ceiling fans and the oscillating feature makes them better in some ways. Noise is louder than a traditional ceiling fan on high speed, but you can easily fall asleep to it on low speed if you are sensitive to sounds like me. Rotation is quiet with just a bit of noise, but I prefer to just keep them stationary. The remote control is very handy and includes an led light to help you see in the dark.
Update: 1 year of heavy use and all 4 are going strong. The filter gets dirty very quickly, so make sure you stay on top of that. 10 of 12 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Honeywell HY-047B Fresh Breeze Tower Fan w/ Ionizer (Electronics) I bought this fan to replace a tower fan by Sharper Image, which after more than 5 years of heavy use was starting to go. As far as the Honeywell's fan functions are concerned, it seems to be good enough, although summer hasn't officially arrived so I won't really know until then. I like the fact that it has a cleanable filter.
The thing I don't like about the fan is the remote. I use the fan in the bedroom, and it is across the room from the bed, so having a remote is almost a necessity. The buttons on the remote have dual functions -- the power button is also the speed button, and the oscillation button is also the ionizer button. What this means is that if you turn the fan on and leave it at the high speed setting, which is the default speed when the power goes on, you have to push the button three times when you want to turn the fan off, because you have to go through all three speeds before it hits "off". Also, and even less conveniently,...Read more |
