Product Review

Austin Healthmate HEGA Air Cleaner - HEGA stands for High Efficiency Gas Absorption. Simply put - this is a fantastic unit for those suffering from every day allergies and those looking to remove odors. Will last longer than the regular Healthmate units under normal circumstances. The Austin HealthMate HEGA is the product of an extensive research and development department where they continue to lead in new design and innovation. Over the years Austin has been the first to introduce energy efficient PSC motors, which reduces energy costs by over 50%; the first to combine solid activated carbon (15 lbs.) and zeolite with HEPA filtration. The highest airflow in a consumer air cleaner, non-toxic powder coat painting, 5-year warranty, 5-year prorated guarantee on filter, and a 30 day money back guarantee. At 480,000 square feet Austin has the largest air cleaning manufacturing plant in the world. Austin manufactures everything themselves from filter to metal forming to the final paint.

The Austin Air HEGA Allergy Machine is great for the allergies, I've noticed a marked improvement in my allergy issues in the two days we've had it running in our home. I'm not so impressed with the "gas odor neutralizing" capabilities of this machine. The major reason we bought the unit and had it shipped 1 day was that we'd had new windows installed in our home, and the Polyurethane sealant they used on the windows has a strong odor. Fortunately the Window Company has chosen to "go green" and is using a "green friendlier" sealant, so while the odor is strong, there don't seem to be any headaches or other issues. BUT, back to my point, two days with the purifier running full power, and the "gas emission odor" is still quite strong.
