There are good general purpose filters out there that are much less expensive and will give you clean air, but that's not really what this is for.
I moved into a new place a while back, and the previous owner had a dog, a fireplace, smoked in the house, and had new carpet in 1 room, and old WOW-musty carpet in another.
He also apparently didn't like to take out the garbage, because the whole place smelled like month old cooking trash.
I vacuumed, steam cleaned, painted, scrubbed, vacuumed some more, but the odors always came back. It was also ant infested, and I needed to fume the place more than once.
I keep reptile pets, so it's a HUGE inconvenience to fume the place, as they all have to get moved out to fume.
Also, there was a major water leak, and whenever you ran the A/C, it was obvious there was mold in the vents.
